Policy and Data Landscape for Understanding the Sports Activity of Children and Young People in Scotland Before, During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic

As part of our project delving into the impact of COVID-19 on children's access to recreational sport across Scotland, researchers at Abertay University carried out a comprehensive literature review of the current policy and data landscape surrounding young people's sport and physical activity in Scotland. The review identified policies that have impacted sport and physical activity before, during and after the post-COVID-19 pandemic to fully comprehend their influence on youth's and children's participation.

This review sought to examine the previously limited studies on sport and physical activity participation of children in Scotland and indentify gaps in the literature. The report fed into a more extensive policy recommendations report that suggests practical solutions to increase participation through national strategy.
