Data for Children Collaborative Deputy Director Fraser Macdonald has joined the Young Scot Board.

Fraser Macdonald, Deputy Director at the Data for Children Collaborative, has been honoured with the prestigious DataIQ Award for 2023 in the Data for Good Champion category. This award recognises his outstanding dedication to utilising data and analytics to improve society, mainly focusing on child-centric challenges.  

A short interview with our new Senior Project Manager, Olivia Hale. Abertay University's School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has launched a research study to understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on children and young people's recreational sport and exercise participation in Scotland.  The sturdy is a part of a collaborative, nationwide project with the Observatory for Sport in Scotland, Data for Children Collaborative, and private sector organisations.

Generally, when it comes to collaborating, our attention is naturally concentrated on ‘what do we want to achieve?’ This answer is almost always focused on the task or the reason for collaborating in the first place.  This is not wrong, however, what if we took the time to think about how we would like to work as a group, to notice how we work, how we are interacting, and how we are behaving, as we collaborate? 

With climate change an ever-increasing presence in today’s news and media, a lot of talk is based around how policy today impacts the climate of the future. 

Working in a domain that has such high stakes around decisions that are made, given the impact on children directly, on service providers working with children or indeed on data and models, it is essential that all of our activities are directed by ‘good governance’.  

As the Data for Children Collaborative transitions from our initial start up phase, we gathered our partners, colleagues and stakeholders for an overview of what we have achieved and our plans for the future..
